We are a registered Pony Club centre.
The Centre Membership Scheme was introduced in 1998 so that children and young people without their own pony could join and take part in Pony Club activities. Ravenroyd is linked to the Pony Club, and through this link, we can offer the Pony Club tests and badges to members.
Ravenroyd Pony Club 2011 Schedule
PONY CLUB MEETS FORTNIGHTLY ON SUNDAYS 1- 3pm
Each session is £20 and every child will have a riding lesson during the session. The rest of the session is spent learning about horses in a fun but educational way. We progressively work through the P.C. tests and badges.
All pony club activities will take place fortnightly on Sundays. The sessions will be riding, test work and badge work. We recommend all Pony Club members attend these sessions one week and have a riding lesson on the alternate week.
Parents are welcome to stay and watch, or drop the children off and leave a contact number.
Please bring warm, waterproof clothing, snacks and drinks.
Please make sure you book in advance in order that we can organise session content and ponies.
CHRISTMAS AT RAVENROYD PONY CLUB 2011
Sunday 18th December – E Test and Mini Road Rider Preparation Day
12pm – 3pm £25.00
As well as usual Pony Club activities today we will go through the final preparations for the E-Test and the Mini Road Rider Achievement Badge. Both these are pre-requisites for the Pony Club D-Test and the Road Rider Achievement Badge which we will slowly be progressing to throughout 2012, working through the Bronze Progressive Tests to get up the standard. The E-Test is the first official Pony Club test aimed at young new members and is examined internally by a member of staff so it is a very relaxed atmosphere to get Pony Club members into the examinations system which is recognised worldwide. The Mini Road Rider Achievement Badge is the first stage towards the Road Rider Test. Successful candidates (all Ravenroyd Pony Club members are up to this standard) will receive a certificate for the E-Test and a pale yellow felt to put behind their pony club membership badge if they have one (£2.00 from Pony Club) and an achievement badge for the mini road rider to sew onto their Pony Club jumpers.
Friday 23rd December – Christmas Show Day
11am – 4pm £35.00
Join us for a day of festive fun with all the Ravenroyd ponies! In teams you will begin the day by grooming and decorating your teams pony – brings lots of tinsel and decorations to make sure your pony looks the most glamorous! The best team whose pony is clean as well as looking fabulous will win. We will then head into the school and learn how to show off your pony to their best by leading them round the school one at a time as you would in a real horse show. After lunch we will tack up the ponies and everybody will have a ride in groups – we will look at how well you are riding your pony (not how well you are doing compared to the other riders). We will then set up a mini clear round / obstacle course and you will all have a go at taking your pony round making sure you don’t knock anything over or miss any parts out! The fastest clear round will win. Come and have a go at Ravenroyd’s show day – rosettes to everybody who comes and placings to 1st to 5th in each section, relaxed atmosphere, no pressure and a great way to make sure the ponies don’t miss out on Christmas as well!!! Also open to non – members. Bring a packed lunch.
Friday 30th December – E-Test and Mini Road Rider Examination Day
10am – 1pm £25.00
An informal examination for Pony Club members to achieve their first official award. See above for more information on the tests.
Sunday 8th January – New Years League Competition
1pm – 4pm £25.00
Start the New Year with the first of three league competitions to be held throughout 2012. The object of these days is to bring members together in a competitive but relaxed atmosphere. The competitions are judged in three age groups with each group having to ride certain school movements and take part in either certain gymkhana games or jump certain jumps all suitable to their ability. Each movement is marked out of 5, clear jumps awarded points depending on ability and each gymkhana game is timed with points being awarded accordingly. The points will be accumulated throughout the three competitions with the final result being published in the official Pony Club Newsletter.
These cover a range of basic equestrian and countryside topics and, as each one is passed, the appropriate cloth badge can be sewn onto your Pony Club Sweatshirt.

Pony Club tests are designed to improve your riding ability and knowledge of horse and pony care. Starting with the ‘E' Test you can progress through the Standards of Efficiency up to the ‘AH' Test. Members may also take their Road Rider Certificate.
You may also take Progressive Tests at Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum in Riding and Stable Management. These are smaller tests at all levels which may be taken on their own or together with the Standards of Efficiency.
