Sky
16.2hh. Sky is Liana's old showjumping mare. She is definately a ride for the experienced rider and those riders wanting to develop their sensitivity who like a forward going horse.
Buddy
Buddy is one of the RDA ponies at Ravenroyd. He is 12hh and is a really cheeky chap. Again he teaches the children to ride correctly using their seat and legs. He loves attention and especially the apples and carrots the children bring him!
Riding school horses have a tough job..... at Ravenroyd our horses happiness is paramount. Ravenroyd is not the place for riders who are only interested in 'going fast' without thinking about their aids and position and how it is affecting the horse. We welcome riders who aim to be 'thinking' riders and wish to achieve harmony and grace in their riding. Teaching clients to ride is hard work for the horses, our horses only work 4 days a week and spend the rest of the time out at grass relaxing and recharging their batteries for their next days work! We continually monitor our horses well-being to ensure all our horses are fit and happy to work which in turn makes riding them more pleasurable. A good horseman never blames his horse and always looks t o himself first when there is a problem.
India
India was born in 1998, she has been at Ravenroyd since April 2008. She is a real confidence giver, she always tries to please her rider even if the rider isn't giving quite the right instructions! India will happily do flatwork, jumping and hacking shehas also done a little side-saddle!
Monty
Monty has been at Ravenroyd the longest, he was born in 2003 and has been here since he was 2! He is 14hh. Monty is great because he teaches riders to ride well , if the rider doesn't ask correctly Monty won't oblige! He is a very versatile pony, he can take both children and small adults and once he respects the rider he performs like a superstar!
Sherbert
12.2hh. Sherbert is a fabulous little pony, he really helps the children build their confidence. An easy ride for children starting out, all the childrens favorite!
Blue
15.2hh ISH. 2005. He has hunted and is a forward going ride.
